Sam draws on his psychology background to understand how people use software, where they get stuck and what helps them complete a task.

Sam is a co-founder of Solaris and a Principal Software Engineer with a background in psychology, business and software development. He’s interested in how people process information, form habits and make decisions. He applies that research to software design, paying attention to what users need to remember, what distracts them and where a process becomes confusing. His work focuses on making information easier to organise and everyday tasks easier to complete.

Joshua Macmaster

Principal Software Engineer, LLB.

Josh is a software engineer and lawyer. He builds internal tools and automations, drawing on his experience with the paperwork and processes of legal practice.

More about Joshua

Josh is a co-founder of Solaris, a self-taught software engineer and an admitted lawyer. Before starting Solaris, he spent five years as a law clerk, seeing how documents, deadlines and administrative work move through a professional services business. He began programming to solve problems in those workflows. Today he focuses on process automation and internal business tools. His legal experience informs how he handles compliance, documentation and the details of a client’s processes.
